No deal, Bob Arum, the 78-year-old chairman of Top Rank (boxing’s preeminent promotional company) related with clear frustration during the early hours of Saturday morning. The news, was indeed as somber as the time in which it was presented.

A fight between the two could have sold three million pay-per-view purchases and made each man upwards of $60 million. Yet this is one instance where money does not talk and the two men’s pride clearly is the biggest factor.

Boxing, within the past decade has became a joke and should really consider tossing in the towel once and for all.

Dare we challenge the reign of the great King, but “his highness” has done nothing but generate bad publicity since he made the announcement to join Sir Wade in Miami.

First, their was the disaster known as LeBron’s one-hour buildup to his “grand” announcement.

I’ve usually been a sucker for such hype shows, however I couldn’t force myself to watch 60 minutes of interviews, highlight footage, analysis, and whatever else you possibly use as filler for a decision that certainly wasn’t that important in the first place.

Yet when it was all said and done, LeBron did the impossible. He generated all that discussion and excitement leading up to the special, only to come out in the end and turn his back on the one city who deserved better.

Within minutes, Cleveland responded appropriately, setting ablaze to his now infamous #23 in scarlet, white, and gold as well as a nasty backlash from Cavaliers owner, Dan Gilbert.

Among the excerpts:

• “As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
• This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
• Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.
• If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.
• The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.
• “I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”

Sure Gil, LeBron did quit on you and your team in the second round of the playoffs this year but how dare you suggest the man is selfish!?

Of course, my favorite person in the whole world, Jesse Jackson, was right there to defend the King like John Starks.

The Rev suggested that Gilbert treated LeBron as a “runaway slave” and that his comments were “mean, arrogant, and presumptuous.”

Ah, hell nah!

“He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” the Rev added. ”His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship – between business partners – and LeBron honored his contract.”

So maybe Race Wars Jes does have a point. Maybe LeBron gave Cleveland seven solid years of basketball and didn’t throw it all away in the playoffs. Maybe the guy really is a winner. Maybe he doesn’t ONLY think about himself.

Maybe, just maybe.

Two things Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young does not f**k around with.

Over the weekend, Vince Young was kicked out of a club after he socked the manager square in the face. And what, you may ask, would ignite such an ugly conclusion?

Surcharges.

Vince, a multi-millionaire professional athlete, was apparently unhappy about having to pay a surcharge required to withdraw money from the club’s ATM. The manager got involved and all hell broke loose.

The manager, who also happens to be from Oklahoma, flashed an upside down “hook ‘em horns” hand signal and said “f**k the Longhorns” to Vince. That’s when Young allegedly decked the manager in the face and had to be dragged out of the club.

According to KDFW, Young was issued a “Class C assault” citation today. The sentence could carry up to a $500 fine…or far more than the ATM surcharge.

Tennessee Titans fans take heed, the toss was easily the best of Vince Young’s NFL career.

Sioh what the f**k Wade?

I wish I could make up the name if I could, but Siohvaughn is actually a real person with a real issue. The former wife of Dwyane Wade is currently going through a divorce with the superstar, yet she cannot appear to maintain a lawyer.

Siohvaughn was dumped by her ninth, yes read that right, ninth divorce laywer today, citing (very ironically) “irreconcilable differences.” The emergency motion was filed yesterday in Cook County, IL by Siohvaughn’s attorney, Marsha Fisher.

The infamous list has now reached nine attorney’s willing to part ways with the former basketball wife. They include: Dorene Marcus, Burton Hochberg, Michael Berger, David Stein, John Rokacz, Rosaire Nottage, Andrew Leinoff, and Michael Bruck.

A select handful of Ben’s former teammates in Pittsburgh are now kicking the quarterback in the dirt shortly after the NFL ruled that Roethlisberger would have to sit out six games next season.

Question is…who do you dare believe?

Kelly Naqi did a story for ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” this weekend with a story that focused on Roethlisberger’s image and reputation. The “Outside the Lines” reporter conversed with former Steelers running back Najeh Davenport and safety Mike Logan.

According to “Outside the Lines”:

• Davenport estimated that about 60 percent of the locker room felt like Roethlisberger thought he was “bigger than the team,” and not focused on winning.

• Davenport also discussed a time when Joey Porter called out Roethlisberger in a team meeting for being the last one in to practice and the first one to leave. Porter also accused Roethlisberger of not being dedicated to the team, and criticized him for not fraternizing with his teammates.

• Mike Logan confirmed the incident where Porter addressed Roethlisberger, and said that all the things Porter mentioned were already being talked about in the locker room.

• Someone identified only as “a close friend of a Steelers player” said that the reason Roethlisberger had a bodyguard was because of an incident where a man put a gun to Roethlisberger’s head because the Steelers quarterback was involved with the man’s girlfriend.

• Naqi spoke with people who work at Pittsburgh bars and nightclubs, and they described Ben as someone who was condescending to the staffs and rude to other customers. One bar owner said Roethlisberger always expected he and his entourage to be given free food and drinks.

While the above reports are alarming to say the least, one would have to question why no one b***hed when the Steelers were winning Super Bowls.

Tito Ortiz has finally found a battle he can’t win.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call Monday morning, shortly after it was reported that Ortiz and girlfriend/baby mama Jenna Jameson got into a fight.

Police arrived at the couple’s home in Huntington Beach, California, and escorted Ortiz shortly later in cuffs. Jenna Jameson was seen leaving with ”visible injuries.”

The couple are not married, however they do have twin boys together. Later on Monday, Dana White – the head chief for UFC – made a public statement, suggesting that if the domestic violence charges do prove to be legit, Ortiz could get kicked out of the league.

White stated, “We’re gonna be fair, but we could cut him. Other than going on a killing spree, being accused of domestic violence is the worst thing you can have going for you,” he added.

We’ll see if a professional sport of any kind finally makes the right move.

Why is this bad news?

Only a geek would truly understand.

Madden is notorious, and we mean notorious, for bestowing the infamous “Madden Curse” on players who grace their cover for that season. Horrible things always happen to Madden cover boys. In 2009, Troy Polamalu, fresh off a Super Bowl with the Steelers – earned the honor curse of Madden cover boy. He then sustained a devastating knee injury one week later.

Other victims include Marshall Faulk, Ray Lewis, Vince Young, Shaun Alexander … and of course Michael Vick.

Sorry Saints, but it looks like it could be the Lions year.

Well, everyone, except for Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin.

One of the assistants for a Nuggets player thought it would be funny to pack Martin’s SUV full with popcorn. And it would have been funny, had it not been Kenyon Martin’s SUV.

Martin is not only big but also mean. The type of rage he plays with on the court is a clear demonstration that he will go ballistic when given the opportunity.

After seeing how the popcorn affected his white interior, Martin - who’s making roughly $16 million this year - went back into the locker room and told his teammates, “I swear to God, boy … when I find out who did it … I’m gonna put my mother f*ckin’ hands on one of y’all.”

Martin continued, “I’m gonna put my hands on whoever did it … you best believe dat … it’s f*ckin personal … you best believe it.”

After Martin calmed down, Kenyon learned the perp was the driver of teammate J.R. Smith. The driver later apologized for the prank. No word yet if Martin did in fact put his hands on the mutha f**ker.
