Star Trek’s Massive Opening Weekend.

STD - Star Trek Diehards enjoyed this film as much as Captain Kirk.
Yesterday I was at the movie theater with my family for Mother’s Day. No we did not catch a showing of the new Star Trek. A) The number of nerds and B) the 100% dominate white fan base scared me.
What’s hilarious about Star Trek and its opening weekend is that many reporters and Hollywood insiders actually appear surprised about the $76.5 million opening weekend.
You’re not fooling this guy.
It was only a matter of time before Hollywood tried to recycle another vintage show to please “Nerd Nation.” In fact, I can already see a sequel (or prequel?) in works.
According to reports, Paramount estimated that the film would only produce around $50 million for the opening weekend.
Do these people live in Bangladesh?
I’m pretty sure the Star Trek fan base stills exists. Do they realize the power of Mr. Spock?
The film is also doing really well critically, considering that 96% of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were positive.
According to one source, Star Trek has the possibility of shattering the popularity of both The Dark Knight and Iron Man from last summer.
“This one has been even better reviewed,” said Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore. “You look at the level of critical response and the audience reaction, we definitely feel like the movie is set to play into Memorial Day and into the summer.”
