Simon Cowell is Gone and I think Idol is Okay
Please keep in mind that I never bought into the whole American Idol craze. I’m baffled that a reality show draws such a huge following that news of a judge leaving the show is nearly as big as any other national or world issue we are currently battling.
So obviously by now, everyone knows that Simon Cowell is gone. Batman loses Robbin, Kobe drops Shaq, Shaq drops Lopez, and Seacrest and Cowell come out of the closet woodwork.”
The rumors for the reason why Cowell dumped Idol are as many as the stars in the sky. I don’t know the true answer and I don’t really care to know why. Cowell is moving on to The X Factor. End of story.
Anyone who clearly doubts that Idol will suffer without Cowell is higher than Joaquin Phoenix. You could put Barry Bonds in a wig once again and he would work as a host. Anyone will do. Get a hot chick to spice up the appearance once again!
It’s not about the set or the judges or the host, but about America’s obsession with reality television and this dream about someone becoming the next star. Only in the United States would you find entertainment so dull and monotonous.
Trust me America, Idol will survive. Someone will take Cowell’s place and play exactly the same role. They’ll act stupid and obnoxious and sell the part just fine.
Idol is immortal. Unfortunately, it will never die.
