White People Hate to look like they didn’t get the joke.

A fundamental part of whiteness is fitting in. White people hate to stick out in a crowd, and they hate to look stupid in front of other people. They’re especially uncomfortable when they don’t get a joke because it makes them stand out and it makes them look stupid. So, white people laugh at anything for fear that there is a joke they’re missing out on. The inexplicable mid-90′s popular success of “Murphy Brown,” as well as the “The Santa Clause” franchise, can be attributed to white people’s irrational fear of looking like they didn’t get the joke.
