surprised April Fools News

Tomorrow will represent the first day in April, and the lamest excuse for a day to play a prank on someone. Usually these April Fool’s jokes are nothing short of corny, over-thought, and just plain stupid.

I’ll admit that every year somebody strikes with a great April Fool’s joke, but the number of horrible mishits are enough to ruin the day for everyone.

But just when you thought you heard a horrible April Fool’s joke, you never ran into these stories.

Check out some of the worst April Fool’s pranks of all-time…

  • A year after Ochoco creek was flooded and hundreds of houses destroyed or damaged, a local radio station in Oregon thought it was extremely bright to announce over the air that the Ochoco dam had burst open again and the chances of the local area being flooded again were high. Panic and hysteria struck the surrounding area and nobody laughed long after the radio station admitted it was a prank.
  • Randy Wood was so bitter after a divorce that he decided to pull a prank on his ex-lover. Wood called up his ex-wife and told her, he had something to show her. When she arrived at the home, the ex-wife had the pleasant experience of finding Wood hanging by a noose from a tree. She immediately dialed 911, only to find out later that the hanging was staged by using a lineman’s harness. Wood was fined $1,000 and landed a year in jail for his horrendous prank.
  • Glenn Howlett officially became “the dude that takes work too serious,” after he rushed back mid-vacation in a frantic mess after a memo he received warned Howlett about a big report that suddenly became due two weeks early. Although the memo was addressed on April 1st, Howlett was so stressed about the report that he panicked and endured heart palpitations, collasped from the stress, and was forced to take a leave from work. Howlett would shortly later file for early retirement due to the high levels of stress and risk to his health that the memo caused. After finding out that it was a prank, Howlett responded with a middle finger raised to the air and a massive lawsuit against the employer.
