Three’s Company Star Arrested

“Come and knock on our door
We’ve been waiting for you… to bail us out jail”

Former Three’s Company star Joyce Dewitt has been arrested in Southern California for drunken driving.

Okay, most people have no idea who she is, and she wasn’t at Michael Jackson’s memorial service today, but she did produce one hilarious mug shot. It’s her best work in decades.

Apparently, Dewitt, 60, drove past a barricade near a park in El Segundo. She was quickly pulled over. During questioning the officer observed signs of alcohol intoxication.

After being booked at the local police station, Dewitt was cited and released on her own recognizance.

Dewitt may not be famous now but 20 years ago she was a household name. She played Janet Woods on the quintessential 1970’s sitcom Three’s Company.

The show’s plot featured a dude living with two chicks (one was really hot and the other was DeWitt). Sounds simple enough, except the dude had to pretend he was gay in order to appease the landlord. How times have changed.

While the show was extremely popular (the highest rated show in 1978-79), it was also extremely awful. Every week the show’s stupidity insulted the intelligence of millions of viewers.

Besides John Ritter’s exquisite physical comedy (he played the dude) and the blonde eye candy (either Suzanne Somers, Jenilee Harrison or Terri Alden), Three’s Company maybe the worst sitcom of all-time.

The show can currently be seen in the wee hours of the night on TV Land.

As for Dewitt, she’ll need to do something far worse than this to reinvigorate her career.
