A Wild West Shootout in Washington
The Washington Wizards once went by the nickname “The Bullets,” which is fitting considering two current players nearly replaced basketballs with bullets over a verbal argument last week.
The NY Postreports that Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton each pulled out handguns in the locker room after a dispute arose over some sort of gambling debt.
NBA players drawing guns on each other in the men’s room? No way, that certainly does not fit the “thug” image of the current NBA.
What does fit, however, is that one of the two parties involved goes by the nickname “Agent 0.” Arenas is clearly one of the strangest characters in the league. He once rocked a cape on his back during pre-game warmups and he’s admitted that “Bambi” is his favorite movie.
If the only player in the NBA who likes Bambi sports unloaded weapons in his locker, one can only assume what Ron Artest packs?
The answer: An AK-47 and a six pack of “Old English.”
I couldn’t possibly think of how the NBA’s image could take any more hits. I mean in the last few years, Artest and members of the Indiana Pacers attacked members in the crowd, a former ref admitted to gambling on games he officiated, Artest confessed that he used to drink alcohol during halftime (swell guy, that Artest), and now teammates are pulling guns on each other in the locker room.
What is next? The opening tip at half court replaced with a one-on-one draw between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant?
Hey, at least it’s not like they are doing steroids or cheating on their wives.
